Essential Responsibilities
- Lead Region Staff. Works in conjunction with Senior Director and Regional Director to perform, providing high level support as assigned with staff, CBOs, community members, JobTrain management and others as identified by directors.
- Training & Development. This role will be overseeing training for onboarding-90 days as well as employment specialists needing further coaching and development.
- Work one-on-one with staff to demonstrate empathetic case management, rapport-building methods with clients, and evaluating barriers. Teach Employment Specialists methods for managing caseload. Train Employment Specialist and model how to build rapport, assess client needs/barriers when needed.
- Demonstrates how to access and serve appropriate services and resources based on an in depth understanding of the breadth and scope of JobTrain services and client needs. Provide resource list, training and guidance to Employment Specialist. Modeling guidance of clients.
- Trains staff how to develop and co-create Individualize Employment Service Plan in partnership with client (resume, force / career coaching) leveraging internal team / knowledge / network as needed. Verifies staff understanding as needed. Teach Employment Specialist how to develop and implement an IEP as needed.
- Reports updates on progress to Impact team, Director where training occurs and/or Senior Director as related to assigned project. May participate in EAC Leadership meetings as needed.
- Data Quality Assurance. When needed after a quality assurance review by Impact team, manager or director, provide additional data entry training as instructed. In addition to blind audits conducted by management, Lead Employment Specialist also conducts monthly blind audits. Report results of training back to the requestor.
- Onboard training documentation- Keep onboarding documentation up to date as Salesforce modifications occur.
- Carries a case load of clients from assigned Economic Advancement Center location (home base). Case load assigned by EAC management. Reports to the Director of assigned location regarding case load.
- Build and manage interpersonal relationships with staff, clients and employers and community partners
- Represent JobTrain to complete outreach events: job fairs, workshops, employer events, 1-1, and large audiences. Ensure follow up occurs. Represent JobTrain at regional partner and funder meetings when needed. May take lead on organizing an outreach event as needed and work with Employer Engagement Liaison when appropriate.
- Collaborate with employment specialists and JobTrain staff to provide input / feedback to proactively and continuously improve the EAC processes on behalf of JobTrain overall.

Experience and / or Education
- Proven experience with: Workforce development (LMI, labor force dynamics) as it relates to job placement and / or managing a caseload and / or account management or grant management experience.
- Direct experience working with specialized populations experiencing barriers to employment (ie: unhoused people, undocumented people, low-income/public assistance, justice engaged, long-term unemployment, mature workers, DV survivors, etc.)
- Demonstrated mastery of the Employment Specialist role within JobTrain.
- Experience within JobTrain onboarding new hires, creating and updating training plans, evaluations, and escalated issues as they arise.
- Staff management, training, mentoring and/or coaching experience required.
- Demonstrates principles and self-determination of Economic Mobility.
- At least three years of experience working directly with Workforce development (LMI, labor force dynamics) as it relates to job placement and / or managing a caseload and / or account management or grant. Demonstrated performance of exceeding job responsibilities can be used in place of years of experience requirement. Must have excelled in all parts of role to have years of experience waived.
- Experience demonstrating to staff how to manage a caseload by assessing and meeting client employment needs, staying organized in follow-up, documentation, and reporting job placements.
- Excellent customer service and rapport-building skills across various populations. Maintains and models a professional demeanor while efficiently performing the complexities of the role.
- Communication skills, especially the ability to guide conversations and achieve training and development goals effectively & efficiently.
- Facilitation and public speaking skills with the ability to deliver workshops in a variety of settings.
- Critical thinking through a lens of empathy, compassion, equity, innovation & inclusion.
- Understanding of grant funded programs, databases & reporting parameters.
- Broad familiarity with computer software and systems (ie: MS Suite, spreadsheets, meeting technology, etc.)
- Ability to work independently, autonomously and toward JobTrain’s mission and career center goals (i.e.: organization & task management, set and meet personal and professional goals, use adequate discernment.
- Must be able to travel to different sites as needed, within Santa Clara & San Mateo Counties, including evenings and weekends.
Compensation and Benefits
JobTrain offers a competitive salary, numerous health benefit plans and premium coverage of 90%, vision and dental, flex spending and HSA programs, 401K with a 5% match after joining, EAP and emergency services, vacation time, paid sick leave, retirement program employer match, long-term disability and life insurance. We also pay employees for 10 observed holidays including a whole week off between Christmas Eve and New Years Day.
Based on our career ladders this position starting salary will be: $73,923
